My name is Tia Fletcher and welcome to “The Cancer Writer.” I’m happy to meet you! I am a seventeen-year cancer survivor and am working on a faith-focused romance manuscript permeated by cancer and experiences with love, life, and death. I want to show my readers that life doesn’t stop when you get diagnosed with cancer—it can easily collide with family, love, and career, and everyone involved is affected—not simply the patient. I am pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Creative Writing/English from Southern New Hampshire University and cannot wait to graduate! In December 2001 I was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia and endured chemotherapy, bone marrow biopsies, spinals, and many other procedures and treatments that “come with the territory” for about 2 1/2 years. And guess what? I am healed of ALL. OF. IT. God has healed my bones when I was told I should never walk without multiple surgeries and/or physical therapy (neither of which I ever needed), my hair is abundant, and my cancer risk is now as low as someone who has never had it. And that is the extremely condensed version. Cancer made me strong, and to anyone reading this who has cancer, I hope it will make you strong, too. 🙂
